Bernie Mac Dead at 50

Yet another comedian is grappled by the cold hands of death. The past Saturday Bernie Mac, age 50, died of pneumonia in a hospital bed in the presence of his wife and daughter.

“He opened his eyes on his own and looked at Rhonda. She called his name, and he opened his eyes and nodded to her. She smiled at him and told him, ‘Don’t leave me … ‘I’m waiting for you to come back.’ He shrugged his shoulders, and she said that’s when she knew he was tired. He signaled to her that his body was tired.”

As sad as it is to say, I’m not sure if the last thing that made him give up was the complications with breathing or his wife’s last comment. When you are stuck on the crossroads making a decision as to dying and possibly being heralded by young lusty virgins or a 50 year old woman you’ve had to put up with for thirty years, sometimes the choice is easy. Goodbye funny man, apparently the fat lady has sung.
