Leonardo DiCaprio Adopts Half of a Child

Leonardo DiCaprio, while filming ‘Blood Diamond‘ in South Africa, met and fell in love with a young girl in an orphanage. After a play date, Leonardo decided to “adopt” the orphan. However, he isn’t following in Angelina Jolie’s footsteps. The Chronicle reports,

He will not be raising the girl or living with her. Instead, he will continue checking on her progress by chatting to her over the phone and will send her a monthly check.

It’s more than I’m doing, so I’ll give the man a break. However, who is going to make sure that young girl receives the check? What if someone steals it from her? Are they even able to cash checks over there?
